Christian Education Connection
The mission
of Christian education in our church involves our children, parents, servant
leaders, volunteers and the various committees working together, toward the
same end. That end … to incite wonder,
provoke discovery and fuel passion in the heart of every child to know and
share the love of Jesus Christ. Along the way, we too, will be transformed, as
we open up ourselves to the grace and love of Jesus Christ and explore God’s
World.
Imagine, each
child that enters these church doors, growing up with an authentic faith that
connects them to a better story for their life.
Even better, imagine yourself being an integral part of this
process! We need all kinds and varied
help. We need you! Won’t you join together and be part of
Morningside’s Christian Education Program this Fall?
This
fall our church will engage in an exciting new Christian Education adventure
with a new curriculum for all ages.
We need our children and youth to experience Jesus Christ in a way they
will never forget. They will connect
with leaders who believe in their potential and parents/family who are engaged.
We will do this through Prayer, Bible Stories, Art, Games, Music and
Drama.
We are
calling this curriculum: Exploring God’s
World. It is written by Mary Kate Warner who is a dedicated Sunday School
Teacher, Entrepreneur, Wife and Mother. Here
are just a few Christian Education offerings that are coming our way:
1)
Activity time will take place in room 206 from
8:45 am until 12:15 every Sunday for children age 4-10. Whether you attend the 9 am worship service
or the 11 am worship service you will register, sign in and sign out with your
child/ren at the activity room. You can be sure your child will be learning
about the love of Jesus under the supervision of well qualified Christian leaders.
There will be Christian oriented activities, Sunday School,
Children’s Choir and more for all during this time. There will also be child care in the nursery
during this time for your 0-3 year olds.
2)
Christian
Education will take place for adults, youth and children between 10:15 and
11:00 am.
A new class, “Family Matters” will meet in
room 205 every Sunday. This class is for anyone interested in family,
relationships, parenting and the like.
We will begin with a series of family related topics along with sharing
resources. Mark your calendars and join
us. Beginning Sunday Sept. 18th , we will
have a 4 week series on relationship building with a faith based
orientation. Our leader will be Laurie
Klein, Licensed Social Worker from Salem Pastoral Counseling. She comes to us with 12 years experience
working with families and couples. She
will be sharing with us on topics such as:
Your Relationship IQ, Six Strategies for Change, and 5 Golden Rules for
Keeping Love Strong.
There will also be a Christian
Education class that meets in the Fireside Room with a focus on a more in-depth
study of that day’s sermon called “Pay It Forward.” Mary Ellen Eichelberger
and Lura Morris.
In addition, Rev. Karen Crooch will facilitate a 13 week series class called
“Living the Questions” which is an introduction to Progressive
Christianity. It begins Sunday September
18th and it meets in the Fireside Room from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
